Encrypt any block device

Goal A hard drive or a USB stick set up in this way is recognised by common filemanagers (e.g. Thunar, PCManFM) - it shows up as an encrypted device in the side bar, a password dialog pops up, and the twofold decrypt/mount process happens in one click. Device encryption, performance considerations W.....

Firefox: user.js to tighten security

I finally manned up to tackle the ghacks (now arkenfox on github) user.js for Firefox. I felt that if I want to continue using Firefox I really have to do this, since it's making more and more unbidden connections. Thankfully it is possible to disable most. It's a lot of work to customise - you can'.....

Installing a Commercial SSL Server Certificate (nginx)

Since CACert still isn't "Browser Trusted", and I still don't want to use letsencrypt, I decided to give this a try. The company resides inside the European Union and is the cheapest I could find. No More Android ‑ Part 1

Why I've Had Enough Of Android Before I even start, let me clarify one thing: LineageOS is Android, too. Every custom ROM that is based on AOSP is Android, too. For a long time I was trying to make my Android smartphone safer, better, less bloated, more useful... and always struggled with the lack.....

uMatrix

It seems I had to make the switch away from seamonkey. Firefox for now, but I will consider palemoon again. Anyhow, revisiting my browsing & addon habits, I re-discovered this thread and the uMatrix addon - I am amazed! It can replace NoScript, my beloved but unavailable RequestPolicy, a Cookie .....

About HTTPS on this site

This site is also viewable encrypted through https. I finally decided to shell out some real money for this, so for the next two years there's no snag. See here. There's a snag though: Browsers do not (by default) "trust" the certificate authority I'm using. Why not? Because this "trust" must be.....
